HELLO, AND WELCOME TO MY BLOG!

This is my little space in the world where I like to ramble on about what I've been making and other things I've been up to.

I do put a lot of hard work into everything I make so please do not use any content from this website without contacting me first.

View Article  Peg Bags Galour...!

OOO! Franny phoned today to say that she got her peg bag in the post and she really liked it. Good news if you ask me! After that I decided to make my new peg bag. Not as exciting as all the others I've made - Fran's had a washing line full of pants! (wish I'd taken a photo of it) I like my new peg bag though, what do you think?

Simple and perfectly formed...maybe? I did my usual of spending so much time flapping about lining up the dots that I forgot to check if I'd put the right sides facing inwards to sew it all together. Lets just say I spent half an hour sat unpicking the lot to spend another 5 mins sewing it back together the right way! Sometimes I wonder if I should be let loose on the sewing machine! hehe ;)

Well, Mum said she liked the beach/swimming/shopping bag I made her. Although the pockets are a bit big..."I'll fit plenty in them"...she said. I did only speak to her for about 30 seconds before Aunty Pauline whisked her off. The boys (cats!) got me some socks for Mother's Day, can't see how they managed it. No pockets so they don't get pocket money ;)

Finally finished off the bag that has been cut out ready to sew for two weeks now. Here it is, it looks a lot better and more professional in real life! It's got a nice lining and I even put in a magnetic clasp! John said I'm getting better, but also that my bags are a bit floppy.....!

OH! Found a house we like and have had an offer accepted on it. Hopefully things will run smoothly as the vendors as moving to rented down in Devon. We may even be in before my 30th!!!

FRAN: Peg bag will be on it's way tomorrow! Get finishing your christmas stocking...how many years have you been making it now? THREE??? And whatever happened to knitting ;) Will be making a new peg bag for myself this week, nothing fancy, just bigger as I have too many pegs for my little bag.

Next project: Door stops. But what can I fill them with? Just heavy enough to keep a door open, but not too heavy that you need help to move it! Ideas will be appreaciated.

View Article  Beach Bum...

I've made my Mother's Day present. Mum asked if I'd make her a beach bag as Dad has hinted that maybe they'll get a few days away together this year. That'll be nice for them. Here's a pic of the bag, it's big enough for a towel and has 2 big pockets on the front for lotion and what-not! The lining is the same fabric as the handles.

I found the material in Laura Ashley (20% off!!!) when I went into town today. There were quite a few bags in similar colours in Accessorize as well so I guess Mum is very " this season" with this bag! Also bought a few other bits of fabric and I've started work on a bag from the Japanese bag book (just using pattern as it's a nice shape). Had to change the needle on the seing machine today as it got a bit bent....first time in the four/five years I've been "borrowing" it from my Mum ;)

House hunting still on going. Decided the garden was too small on the one we went back to see. Oh well, something will come up soon just got to keep looking.

Oh, more buttons arrived from ebay....might have to sew them onto everything I own to use them up!

View Article  Another Purse!

Hello again!

I've made another one. This was adapted from the Japanese bag book, made super simple! I thought after the zip incident I'd make something a bit easier. I think I like this one better than the purple one (?). I found the knitted flower in among all of my card making stuff, might have a rummage through everything tomorrow and see what else I can find.

I got some nice buttons delivered on sat from ebay. Browns and reds, very retro shapes, I just need to think of things that will use them....any ideas....?!

OH! liked the kimono bags Jack, no recipes for yours though. I did order a few more Japanese pattern books yesterday so I'll keep an eye out for you! ;)

View Article  Purse...

I've made the matching purse for the round bag! I'll tell you this, it was tricky! Sewing the zip in was fine, and I don't know what i was scared of. The trouble came when I was sewing up the last bit, the bit where the tag is. It was all a bit too thick for the poor foot on mum's old sewing machine. I think if I'm going to carry on with things like that I'll have to investigate walking feet (?). As long as you don't look on the inside it's fine! I didn't line this one as thought it was too daunting a task to put in a zip AND line it. I'll give it a whirl on the next one! ;)

Went to the Rag Market yesterday as well to buy some cheap cotton fabric. I got: pale pink (to fix my coat), pale blue, a creamy/beige and some heavier brown stuff. Hopefully I'll come up with something good, I'd really like to have a go at making the animal pouches shown on the My Little Mochi page (see favourites). I'd like one for my camera! I'm sure I'll make something later - need to supervise John making a cake...!

My latest creation! A Japanese influenced round bag. It was a nightmare to sew, I picked the wrong fabric for the lining. The red gingham was quite an open weave and kept fraying. I'll be more careful with my choices next time ;)

View Article  Bright Ideas!

I've been having loads of ideas over the last few days. Mainly after browsing ebay for a few hours and deciding to purchase a Japanese bag pattern book, this could cause some confusion as it's not been translated!!! - the bags are very pretty though. I might do a bit more browsing to see if I can find any lovely fabrics to do the bags justice! Expect me to make something over the weekend.

On another note: house hunting has improved, found a house worthy of a second viewing...! (House 19 of 19 viewed)
