HELLO, AND WELCOME TO MY BLOG!

This is my little space in the world where I like to ramble on about what I've been making and other things I've been up to.

I do put a lot of hard work into everything I make so please do not use any content from this website without contacting me first.

View Article  Craft Erruption!

I'm really having a craft eruption this week! As well as finishing this new display for school (The Rock Cycle - I'll post a pic of it once it's up on the notice board) I've made a start on 2 more Rolley Monkeys and a couple of Rolley Rabbits for the shop. I've also started another scarf and made a birthday brooch for one of the girls at work. At the weekend I started to tidy our smallest bedroom/craft room/junk room. Things are being sorted and either being binned/charity bagged/freecycled or labelled and stuffed up in our nice clear loft (Thanks again Dad!!!). I think I was feeling inspired by Sarah and Lynsey's recent sorting and tidying adventures!

This as supposed to be a quiet week on the craft front! I think I must be addicted! :)

Oooooo! I got home and on the stairs was a little parcel addressed to me!

How exciting!!!!

I love them! (sorry for the bad light - it's a bit gloomy here today)

Our front garden! We've spent the last few weeks (on and off with all the rain/snow/hail/etc) digging over this large front bed. The back of it is a lot lower than the front so we decided to section it in two and have a split level border. The front section as you can see, I've filled with lavenders which will homefully bush out over the summer and smell lovely. The back - once we've dug out all the clay and added lots of lovely compost will be an extra vegetable bed to go with the two already in the front. It all looks a bit sorry for itself today and rather untidy.

OOO! I had an exciting email today...from MOO! I totally forgot that I ordered some minimoos last week. My order is being shipped and should arrive soon! I found a discount code on Etsy to get 33% off. It is valid to the 2nd May if anyone wants to use it...LINK HERE. Pictures as soon as they arrive!

View Article  Good Morning!

Ah, it's a lovely morning here I may have to have a potter in the garden later. On another note, I can't believe I forgot to say what I bought last weekend...We went off to the book shop as J had ran out of good books to read and fancied something new, I went off to the craft section as usual - not expecting to like anything as it's a very small craft section in our local book shop nad they don't tend to have many good sewing books. I was pleasantly surprised to find this...

...now all I need to do is decide which project to make first as the are all so lovely! The postman dropped off an amazon parcel for us this morning containing Series 2 and 3 of 24. I think we might have to start those tonight along with some more on-the-sofa-sewing!

Yesterday was a good day. J accepted a new job - so one less worry. I found out I still have time to apply to be a science GTP student at my school if I get my application filled in this week (me? a teacher???!) and SUPER ROLLEY MONKEY appeared on Cuteable!

One last work. Good luck to Picciolo with her craft fair today! xx

View Article  Strike Day Sewing!

We've managed to get a fair amount of sewing done today as well as lounging around the house (the weather has been rubbish on and off). I finished Super Rolley Monkey's cape and gave him a little mask to hide his true identity(!), also finished the knitted bag I started about a month ago - just in time for the wedding! It's just big enough for my camera and purse. It's lined with some nice Laura Ashley scraps I had lying around - called bibi.

Super Rolley Monkey had to make good an escape from the evil Sausage so he can appear in my Etsy shop later today. (more photos on my Flickr page)

And J finished his cacodemon

Now if only I had a nice cup of tea....

View Article  A different kind of sewing...

...Seed sewing! That has been today's job. I'm on a 48 hour strike so have put today to good use with it being lovely and sunny. I've managed to sew: tomatoes (3 varieties), courgettes, peppers (2 chili, 1 bell), beans (french and runner), artichokes and some flower seeds as well as cleaning a big batch of plant pots. Globe artichokes are so expensive to buy in the shops I thought this year I'd give them a whirl in the veg patch in the front garden (I know, very 'good life'!). I managed to weed the front veg beds too before going indoors for an email back-and-forth with Joy about place settings, signs and order of the days. Here are the place settings finished, they are getting tied to little ginger-bread men! I can't wait for the wedding, it's going to be lovely - even if I do look a bit pregnant in my dress....no treats for me this week :(

Ah! The birds were singing and the sun was shining. All the way home from work I saw people pottering around in their gardens and was itching to do the same. Not much to do in our garden at the mo so I had to be content with giving the lawn it's first mow of 2008! Then I took lots of photographs of anything in flower...enjoy!

View Article  Weekend stuff

The weekend seemed to whizz by far too quickly. Friday was a fun evening of chili, beer and the new Mario kart on Wii. As usual I Am RUBBISH at it! Oh well, might get some practise in this week if our strike days go ahead. Saturday was general housey stuff and in the evening we watched a few more episodes of 24 and did a bit of sewing. J started his new sewing project and I made a few more brooches and started on a more arty piece for a friends nursery.  Sunday we went to see family down in Somerset. Here are my newest brooches - I've only just remembered that I hadn't photographed then over the weekend and the light started to fade, I'll take some better ones tomorrow as we are forecast a nice day!

J said "do you really expect someone to buy a white blood cell brooch?" I can see his point, but it'd be the same sort of person who would be likely to buy an amoeba brooch! These will appear in my Etsy Shop this week. Now, I MUST go and try on my bridesmaid dress to make sure it fits...and finish the bag I'm knitting to go with it....Joy and Danny's wedding is on the 3rd May! EEEK! :)

View Article  Awards and What-not.

Well, who would have thought it? The lovely Picciolo has given me and some other lovely bloggers an award! Thanks ever so much! Just what I needed to add a bit of cheer to an otherwise rubbish week.

I'd like to pass this on to just a few of the blogs I read - believe me when I say I can spend HOURS at the computer having a good read of them all! Here are just 5 of my faves: French Knots, Paper-and-string, Swirly Thoughts, Angry Chicken and My paper crane. My gosh, that was hard work only choosing 5! I would like to say I love all of the blogs on my linky-list so if you do have a spare few hours and haven't discovered any of them yet - I recommend them all! :)

This week is VERY busy at work. The lovely Ofsted inspectors are in and everyone has gone crazy! 23 practicals going on in the science department today - that's  A LOT of equipment to get out/put away! In the mean time; I'm slowly getting through my to-do list. I've finished a batch pf phone/glasses/ipod/etc... cases today. They've been on my desk for a few weeks now as I've occasionally done a bit more to the pile. They will be added to my Etsy shop next week.

I've also made a giant felt scotch egg for the Softies Awards! - just for fun! I've entered the scotch egg and a few of my fruity faces, also Missy Rolley Monkey (the pink one). Oh! AND my embroidered bacteria brooch!
