HELLO, AND WELCOME TO MY BLOG!

My name is Claire and by day I'm a school science technician and new mum (currently on maternity leave!). In the evenings, once the munchkin is asleep, I love to sew, make and create all sorts of cute (mainly) felty goodness and then ramble about it here in my own little corner of the world.

I welcome custom work and orders, just give me a shout if there is something you'd like making! :)

I do put a lot of hard work into everything I make so please do not use any content from this website without contacting me first.

View Article  Pincusion Obsession!

Oh dear! I have a new obsession and It's pincushions! I love them, I really do! I've recently joined a few of the pincushion groups on flickr. There are some gorgeous pincushions being made - not so many for the wrist so I'm out to corner the wrist pincushions market...Mwahahahaaaaaa!

I made the cute tomato and bee pincushions this afternoon and the strap is for a pirate-monkey-wrist-pincushion for a fellow etsyUK'er. The monkey face is almost done and I just have to give him a hat and patch! The tomato and bee will be appearing in my etsy shop tomorrow afternoon once I've taken some nicer photos!

At last! I've downloaded the photos from my 'every-day' camera and found a few I'd forgotten about!

I love alliums! These were HUGE ones we saw at the Malvern Spring Show.

One of our visits to Ryton Organic Garden. This is the 'low maintenance' garden and I love it. Full of grasses and interesting meadow flowers. I can sit in it for hours!

Little geese by the pond on our street.

A whole section of champagne marmite (YUCK!) in Selfridges. We took this one for J's big sister!

And this is where I was at the weekend! (L-R Me, Harvinder, Julie and Lucy) It was Harvinder's wedding and we had a lovely time! Doesn't she look fantastic?! We're the 'upstairs crew' at work :)

I have actually managed a little crafting over the weekend! I made these two little prototype hanging decorations.

And I've made a start on a batch of wrist pincushions - these are the wrist straps that just need the velco. The blue wavy one is a special request and I'm hoping to get it finished mid-week. A sneak-peek will have to do for now!

You Are a Lemon
You have a very distinct personality. And if you're not being sweet, you're a little hard to take.
You're a bit overpowering, especially in one on one situations.

And while you are very dominant, sometimes your power is needed and appreciated.
You can liven up a dull situation, and you definitely bring a fresh outlook.

You are a bit of an acquired taste, and you tend to grow on people over time.
People feel refreshed and rejuvenated after spending time with you.

I saw this on Linsey's blog: What Type of Fruit Are You?

OTHER EXCITING NEWS: I've had a sale on Folksy! It's a UK-based-etsy-style-online-handmade-shoppe-thing. I've only been on a few weeks and it's still in Beta so still very shiny and new and being tested. I listed a Mr Rolley Monkey yesterday and he sold this afternoon! I'm quite over excited as etsy sales have been non-existent for a few weeks. Mr Rolley will be parcelled up and posted off to Derby tomorrow morning! YAY!!!!!!

Here's a sneaky-peak at what things I've been working on for Christmas!

Cute felt heart hanging decorations - set of 3

Felt fish hanging decoration - I think he needs an eye!

Felt holly brooches with vintage buttons for berries

Holly button cards...and...

Red and white blood cell hanging decorations! These are going to be a set of 2 (one red one white). I think they look quite cute! I have a few more ideas up my sleeve, well, half-cut-out and half-sewn-to-a-sleeve, that I plan on finishing at the start of next week. When is it acceptable to start listing Christmas items on etsy?!

Must dash, have to wrestle the cats into their carriers ready for boosters and yearly check-up at the vets. **Link fixed - thanks Erin and Sarah fo spotting it...no idea what happened there I always just copy and paste!**

OOOOO! Look what I found this afternoon, under a pile of crafty things! I even managed to get a bit of machine sewing done too! I'll take lots of photos tomorrow now that some of my christmas prototypes are finished. The desk is the one I rescued from the skip last summer - and spent hours sanding, varnishing and finding the perfect knob for the drawer!

Oh dear. Where on earth has this week gone? It's wednesday afternoon and I've hardly sewn a thing all week done anything else with my time! AND I had monday off! We did have a man round to clean our guttering today and got told if it blocks again it'll be the neighbours fault as theirs is full of tiles and other muck - at least ours is clear now.

Slightly later than planned here are the participants of the ROBOT SWAP. Please check out their blogs and also the flickr group so you can see what we all make!

Afternoon! I've managed to get a good batch of sewing done this weekend! After I'd picked robot swap partners (I'll post details later so you can visit their blogs!) and in between going to the IMAX to see the Dark Knight. I've sewn up another batch of thank you cards, 3 new wrist pincushions and cut out some prototypes for Christmas decorations.

The Orange is already in my etsy shop, the ladybird and christmas pudding will be there soon!

Today I have the day off as it's MOT and service day for my car. I've already had the bad news from the garage - the back breaks are leaky and a bit b*ggered and they think they've found the cause of the squeak when I go round a corner. The total is +£500.....*cry*.....I think I need a sale in my shop to try and make a bit of cash! So, if there is anything in my etsy shop that takes your fancy you can have 15% off the lot! Just convo me with what you would like and I'll make a special listing with the 15% discount taken off for you - just quote *POORCAR* in your convo!
