HELLO, AND WELCOME TO MY BLOG!

By day I'm a school science technician and new mum (currently on maternity leave!). In the evenings, once the munchkin is asleep, I love to sew, make and create all sorts of cute (mainly) felty goodness and then ramble about it here in my own little corner of the world.

I welcome custom work and orders, so if there is something you see and would like making for yourself just give me a shout! :)

I do put a lot of hard work into everything I make so please do not use any content from this website without contacting me first.

Well, what do you know, I won something in Jen's Giveaway! I got home yesterday after visiting a friend back in Derby and found a big squishy parcel stuffed behind the clematis next to our front door. I was quite excited! I'm always excited when I have big parcels to open.....look what I got!

A fab breakfast face cushion!!!!! I'm not sure where he's going to live yet as I no longer have a craft room (we still haven't painted it to become the nursery either!!!) so for now he's living on the wicker chair in the living room. Thanks Jen!!!! He's great :)

View Article  Its been too long

It really has been too long since my last post, I apologise! We've not been up to an awful lot; mainly getting over a stomach bug, sleepless nights, early mornings, a little sewing, a little knitting and a lot of family fun. I'm really enjoying being a mum, Hattie is such a lovely baby (most of the time!), very smiley, very noisy (shouting at 5am most mornings that it's time to get up and play!) and an all round cutey! Here we are at the zoo at the weekend.

I'm wearing my new glasses! (I went for a nice purpley plastic frame this time) and Hattie is in here sling looking not-at-all-impressed with the whole thing! Poor munchkin. We had a really nice day out with our friends and their kids.

I have been sewing. I'm working my way through the solar system for Jen - only the small planets to finish then I can embroider their names round them all. I've made a few ribbony-tag-blankety-things ready for listing in my etsy shop this week - they are going to be $16 (about £10). I've got a few more (more girly ones) ready to have ribbon picked and pinned once the planets are finished! Hattie loves to play with hers, it's the toy we take everywhere with us and possibly the best thing I've made for her so far! I'm hoping to have finished photos of the planets for you by the weekend so be sure to pop back! Bye for now *waves*

Good evening! I thought it was about time I did a little catch up. I've not got around to an awful lot of sewing the last week or so. We've had the odd case of the sniffles, a few sleepless nights and the likes. The one thing they don't seem to tell you when you have a baby is that they don't all sleep during the day! Hattie is a lovely little thing but during the day has 2 to 3 20 minute power naps - not quite long enough for me to do any sewing or catch up on any sleep so I've been having some early nights instead!

On a more crafty note, I've made a start on a special order for Jen. She's recently started her PGCE training and wants some sew-on-science-themed-patches for her lab coat. I sent her a red and black science nerd badge last week to get her started (no self respecting science nerd should be without one!) and now I'm in the process of making her a set of planets! J worked out the sizes for me as I was far too lazy to work the ratios out myself - and he's much better at maths than I am. However, they aren't all going to scale or Pluto (yes, we've decided he's still a planet!) will be about 0.3cm and I just can't sew anything that small! Jupiter (above) is now finished and I've made a start on Saturn today. I thought I'd tackle the bigger planets first.

I've also made a start on finally transferring all my ideas from the numerous blue school books I have lying around to a nice big fancy book I bought ages ago. Looking at this page I quite fancy drawing another one to be framed for the utility/craft room, or maybe the downstairs loo as we already have a common cold soap dispenser(!) in there.

At the weekend we went to do a little shopping with friends and went to Borders, the book shop. It wasn't until I'd gone upstairs to the craft section that I actually noticed the HUUUUUGE closing down sale signs. I'd only popped in for a quick look but couldn't resist buying these two books as they were half price!!! I'm going to attempt some baby bloomers from the clothes book and maybe a pair of booties or two from the knitting one! Well, if I ever get the time! For now they are just some new pretty books I can read while I feed the wee one :)

The smell of the cooler air, crunching through piles of leaves, hats, scarves and mittens, planting out bulbs ready for some spring colour, stews, casseroles, crumbles, and porridge.....

I eat my porridge with a good splash of milk and a spoon-full or yummy dark chocolate chips on top. YUM!

Good evening all! I just thought I'd pop in and let you know what I've been crafting this week. I'm currently working on some special sew-on-science-themed-patches for a very nice lady who wants to jazz up her lab coat. To start with I'm making her a 'science nerd' patch (no self-respecting science nerd should be without one! ;) and a set of planet patches..... We just need to decide on the scale of the planets then I can get making them. Apologise for photo quality - it's getting dark by the time I remember to take photos!

I've also been thinking about making baby things. I've been getting quite a few people asking where I got Hattie's robo-blanket and 'shroom taggie-alike and a few friends have been trying to persuade me to start selling them. I am tempted to start making a few - I've made a start on a small pile of the little ones.... here's the first completed one. All this sewing may justify another fabric order(!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Made from a nice Amy Butler fabric with red fleece backing.
